Programming
Tobacco Checks: Annually we coordinate teams of adults and teens to run the civilian tobacco checks for Oakland County. It is a positive experience for volunteers and it also helped us as a coalition to identify businesses in our community that are selling tobacco.
Dialogue Days: Teens talk and adults listen. The teens represented different public and private schools and the adults represented various sectors in the community. The teens discussed areas of concern such as drug abuse and how they deal with conflict. Dialogue Day helps us determine and revise Coalition goals.
Parent Education Forums: We offer Parent Education Forums during the school year in partnership with the West Bloomfield Public Library. Programs are offered to parents/community members in West Bloomfield, Walled Lake, and Bloomfield Hills.
Youth Coalition: We are meeting monthly with the Youth Coalition, representatives from area high schools. This group plans and hosts drug-free activities for teens and communicates regularly with adult decision makers in the community about issues that affect them. Youth Coalition members participate regularly in community service.
Meetings
Our monthly Coalition Meetings are open to the public and a great way to learn what is going on in our community. Meetings are typically held the second Friday of the month, 8am-9:30am at the West Bloomfield Police Department. We hope to see you there!
